What does this even mean? I’ve never understand money in terms of trading and markets. I tried to understand it. Had a convo once with a woman (who worked in the markets and ‘claimed to be’ awake) – told her I couldn’t comprehend it no matter what I read or studied. She said I “had to” to make it here – I had no choice. So I tried to toss out a metaphor at her and asked her if she thought everyone could learn to play the piano – one of the most difficult instruments to master. She said “no”. I said “well I was able to master that.” She said “but you’re not required to play the piano to do well financially in this world” and so I said “but imagine if you were?”

Playing piano is a far more valuable endeavor than learning the glossary used by Wall St geeks. That said-I do appreciate the work of the actors on the series–“Billions.” I also enjoy the chutzpah of the main charactor, Bobby Axelrod. It’s a fantasy to play the Wall St casino game; and yet–in the end, it’s still a banal game– whereas playing the piano requires much greater effort and cultivating an acquired skill set over time. I used to practice my drum rudiments and reading music 8 hours a day. My serious percussion studies lasted two years. Then the world called to me to become an activist. Careers in the Arts are a minefield. Careers in any area of endeavor that is above the usual slave wage earner paygrade requires the networking skills of a Jedi master. I never wanted to master Wall St linguistics. It’s akin to being a riverboat gambler–which may sound romantic in a sense…and yet in the endgame, it’s still just about a winning poker hand and the luck of the draw.
