Japan has issued a major tsunami warning for the Ishikawa region after a magnitude 7.5 earthquake struck a northern part of the country on Monday.

A magnitude 7.5 earthquake struck the Noto Peninsula of Japan on 1 January 2024 at 16:10 local time. Earthquake The United States Geological Survey reported a moment magnitude of 7.5 and focal depth of 10 km (6.2 mi) for the earthquake.
