Attorney General Sessions Appoints 17 Current and Former Federal Prosecutors as Interim U.S. Attorneys

 

Ok people, this is huge.  Perhaps related to all of these indictments? Hmmm…  First, “interim” is defined as temporary.  And now of all times?  I have done some research on some of these attorneys and below are the results of what I learned.  All of these appointments are effective January 5, 2018.

  1. Shawn Anderson ~ “Anderson has extensive trial experience in state and federal courts, including cases involving murder, kidnaping, narcotics, crimes against children,”
  2. Geoffrey S. Berman ~ “Geoffrey S. Berman, shareholder in the New York and New Jersey offices of Greenberg Traurig, has more than 30 years of legal experience in both the government and private sectors. He focuses his practice on commercial litigation and criminal and regulatory investigations…”
  3. Gregory Booker ~“For the past 18 years, Gregory Brooker has ably represented the people of Minnesota as a leader in the U.S. Attorney’s Office,” said Attorney General Sessions. “He has invaluable experience both in private practice and as a federal prosecutor. He has put fraudsters and other criminals behind bars. I am confident that he will make an excellent Interim U.S. Attorney for Minnesota, and I am pleased to appoint him today.”
  4. Craig Carpenito ~ “During his tenure in the government, Craig was primarily responsible for several high-profile investigations, enforcement proceedings and trials, including:  The successful prosecution of the chairman of Cendant for his participation in a securities fraud conspiracy that resulted in a $14 billion loss to shareholders (U.S. v. Walter Forbes).  The investigation and successful prosecution of numerous insider trading cases, including the successful prosecution of a former Cirrus Logic director (U.S. v. Alfred Teo, Sr.) and a successful civil enforcement proceeding against a former director of Interstate Bakeries Corp. (SEC v. E. Garrett Bewkes, et al.).”
  5. Stephen Dambruch ~ “For decades, Stephen Dambruch has prosecuted criminals in Rhode Island,” said Attorney General Sessions.  “He has successfully taken illegal guns and drugs off of our streets, and has worked significant public corruption matters.  As Interim U.S. Attorney for Rhode Island, he will continue to have a positive impact on the community. … leading coordinated federal, state and local law enforcement efforts to address the opioid crisis across Rhode Island.”
  6. Richard Donoghue ~ “Among the cases he investigated and prosecuted were MS-13 racketeering cases and other violent crime, white collar crime, public integrity offenses and drug trafficking.”
  7. Dayle Elieson ~ “Dayle Elieson has served this Department for more than 15 years and has prosecuted criminals for more than 20 years,” said Attorney General Sessions. “At the federal level, she has successfully taken on fraudsters, money launderers, and terrorists. She is experienced, highly respected, and she will be an excellent leader as Interim U.S. Attorney for Nevada.”
  8. Duane Evans ~ “For nearly two decades as a prosecutor, Duane Evans has worked tirelessly to take on public corruption, drug trafficking, and racketeering,” Sessions said in a statement
