We watched another Little House show. In this episode, Pa discovers he has inherited a fortune from an Uncle. After putting several things on credit, in the end, it turns out the Uncle had a lot of debt and the only thing left to Pa was a box full of money – confederate money. Worthless (at that time). A lien was put on his property, and to pay off the debt, their house and farm are put up for auction. The town comes together – sending away outsiders for the bidding – leaving only local friends to do the bidding. The total amount bid for all items was just 6 cents.
Beautiful.
That is true community. True friendship. And that is what I long for. This is what I need. I cried – wept – still am inside. I need a small community like this – one that will welcome me and my family. Nothing drains the Human Heart and Soul more than isolation and lack of real connection – and I know every one in this house is running on empty in this regard.
We had some of that real sense of community with Grandpa Don. We were there for one another and visits were regular and often. BBQ’s. Dinner’s. And always good conversation.
GOD I miss that!!
After he passed, a month or so, my girl and I talked about visiting the local Assisted Living Home – see if we could find an elderly person who had no local family and was alone. She warmed up to the idea. Then this f’ing “virus” hit and no one is allowed inside those places. I cannot begin to express the trauma, the pain and the rage I have within over knowing these parasites here stole our entire life one year ago this month.
We have done it all wrong here. “They” knew that. City living destroys all that is organic and divine and real. Business. Coming and going. And the past year has intensified the disconnect even more with this ugly putrid horrifying lockdown. We are in a prison inside of a prison.
I am tired of not fitting in. I am tired of not being able to exchange a real smile with someone in a store. I am tired of the distancing and fear. Tired of pay to live. Tired of the struggle. Tired of BEING tired.
Yeah….You get where I am. lol I’m human. I pull myself up by being in Gratitude for what I do have – which includes every exchange I have with each of you.
